There was a high-speed chase on Wednesday in Broward County that was part of a multi-agency law enforcement team that caught a trio with a criminal history — and cocaine and weapons, records show.

A BSO helicopter flew over a black 2019 Chevy Silverado with a tag from South Carolina that Julian Montes was driving “recklessly, at a high rate of speed” southbound on the Turnpike, according to an incident report FHP released on Thursday.
Montes, 30, was “passing traffic on the shoulder” and after a trooper struck him twice he “was able to maintain control” of the Chevy, but the trooper got a flat tire, according to FHP.
Deputies recorded aerial video showing Montes’s front passenger, Tramain Jovonne Reed, throwing out weapons and a yellow and black bag out the window, according to FHP.
Troopers managed to disable the Chevy after a third maneuver causing Montes to lose control and stop, and then rushed to arrest him, Reed, 33, and Vicent Fernandes Barbosa, who was in the back.
A search team found about a kilo of cocaine, a black Glock 29 with 10 rounds, a black and silver Glock 20, and a black Ruger LCP .380 with 4 rounds, according to FHP.
During questioning, Fernandes Barbosa, 36, told detectives that he was on his way to sell the kilo of cocaine for $20,000 to a buyer who was waiting when there was a chase, and he admitted to tossing the black Ruger LCP .380 out the window, records show.
BSO deputies booked the trio at the main jail on Wednesday in Fort Lauderdale and they were facing charges of armed cocaine trafficking. Their bond was denied on Thursday.
Fernandes Barbosa, of Deerfield Beach, was on felony probation for possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana. He was also facing two probation violations.
Reed, of Riviera Beach, is an 8-time convicted felon, whose last conviction was on Nov. 30, 2016, for burglary of an unoccupied dwelling in Martin County. He was also facing charges of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.
Montes, of Wellington, is a four-time convicted felon. He was born in South Carolina and was last convicted on Jan. 19, 2017, of willful fleeing and eluding in Palm Beach County. He was also facing charges of resisting arrest with violence, battery on a law enforcement officer, and aggravated fleeing with damage.
