I-75 northbound in Hillsborough reopens after tractor trailer crash, fuel spill.

A tractor trailer crash and fuel spill prompted officials to close the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 in Hillsborough County on Tuesday afternoon, but they were later re-opened.

The crash occurred about 12:35 p.m. when the driver of a tractor trailer lost control of the vehicle, which jackknifed and hit a barrier wall near MilePost 250, which is in the Gibsonton area.

The Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release sent just before 2 p.m. that all northbound lanes were closed, then sent an update about an hour later saying they were opened.

The driver of the tractor trailer suffered injuries that are not considered life threatening.

The crash caused a “significant fuel leak,” the highway patrol said in a news release.

No other details were immediately available.
