Lake City firefighters rescue dog from house fire

Lake City firefighters rescue dog from house fire

Lake City Fire Department officials say an attempt to keep a puppy warm spelled disaster for a home, but the dog is safe.

Crews responded to a two-story home in the southeastern corner of the city around 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

While firefighters were extinguishing the fire, they found the puppy hiding behind an appliance in the garage.

The dog, named Chase, was given oxygen and was not injured.

Crews think the fire started due to a heating lamp that was in the garage to keep the puppy warm on a cold night.
