Lake City woman arrested after hitting, killing a cyclist in Gainesville while driving drunk

A Lake City woman was arrested after hitting and killing a cyclist while driving drunk Wednesday night.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say G, 30, was driving her SUV south on Tower Road just after 8 p.m. when she hit the 68-year-old Fanning Springs man, who is homeless, near the intersection of Northwest 5th Place.

After being hit, the man hit the ground in the southbound lanes and his bike landed in the northbound lanes. A 45-year-old woman, who was traveling southbound on Tower Road, ran over the bike.
