Woman, 74, arrested after hit-and-run crash in Hialeah, report says

A woman accused in a hit-and-run crash in Hialeah was arrested on Tuesday, authorities said.

Maria Contreras, 74, was charged with leaving the scene of a crash.

According to authorities, Contreras was driving her vehicle on West 49th Street when she made a turn onto West 10th Avenue, where she collided with a man who was riding a motorcycle.

An arrest report said that the motorcycle driver was then ejected and had injuries to his arm and left leg.

Hialeah Fire Rescue arrived at the scene, took the victim to Goodlet Park, where he was then airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital, the report said.

Following the crash, Contreras did not render aid to the victim and left the area.

Contreras, the report said, was later found with her vehicle in Miami Gardens, and she was arrested. She then admitted to being involved in the crash.
