Lanes reopen on I-95 South in Boca Raton after closure

All lanes of I-95 South in Boca Raton have reopened after they were briefly closed on Monday morning.

Florida 511 reported that all lanes and the Exit 44 on-ramp, Palmetto Park Road, were closed at 3:22 a.m. due to emergency vehicles.

Nearby, a deadly crash in Deerfield Beach shut down all southbound lanes of I-95 South just before Exit 42B, Hillsboro Boulevard, according to Florida 511.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a 41-year-old man from Palm Beach was driving south in the outside lane near Exit 42B.

FHP said that at the same time, a 62-year-old Hispanic man from Miami was standing next to his Toyota Corolla, which was stopped in the outside lane due to a previous accident while awaiting law enforcement.

The Palm Beach driver failed to notice the halted Toyota and crashed into its left side with the front of his Mercedes, per FHP.

Following the impact, the Mercedes collided with the driver of the Toyota before coming to a stop facing south in the outside lane. The Toyota ended up facing east in the same lane.

FHP said that the 62-year-old Miami man died from the crash.

As of 7:55 a.m., the Florida 511 map shows a southbound lane closure from Exit 42B to Exit 44.
