A 37-year-old Loxahatchee man was killed overnight in a motorcycle crash in Loxahatchee, according to an incident report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the report, Phillip McCutcheon was riding his Kawasaki ZX-6R motorcycle westbound on Okeechobee Blvd at a high rate of speed when he attempted to pass a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
McCutcheon entered the eastbound lane in an attempt to pass the pickup truck, but there was a vehicle travelling eastbound, which prevented him from passing. As McCutcheon returned to the westbound lane, he applied the rear brake as it passed over the yellow painted line, causing it to fall to the side and toss him from the motorcycle. The motorcycle then crashed into the pickup truck.
The driver of the pickup truck, Daniel Munoz of Royal Palm Beach, suffered minor injuries.
Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash at 4:49 a.m., and McCutcheon was pronounced dead 8 minutes later.
