A semi-truck and pickup truck crash occurred on Highway 60 in Polk County.

Both occupants were trapped in their vehicles.

Polk County Fire Rescue arrived at the scene within six minutes of receiving the call and began to rescue the victims.

During the rescue operation, a leak was found from the semi-truck. PCFR’s Special Operations team quickly controlled the leak.

Two patients were transported to local trauma centers, with one of them taken by Aeromed.

The crash and subsequent leak caused the closure of both eastbound and westbound lanes of Hwy 60. The roads were reopened at 3:54 a.m. after the leak was contained.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
