Coral Gables Police motorcycle officer hospitalized after crash.

A Coral Gables Police motorcycle officer was injured Tuesday in a crash, officials said.

Drivers were asked to avoid the 4100 block of Alhambra Circle as police investigated.

The crash happened at around 4:30 p.m. when the on-duty officer who was assisting in an escort got into a crash with a white SUV.

It’s unclear what led up to the crash. Footage from the scene shows the motorcycle flipped on its side and the driver’s side of the SUV torn off.

The officer was airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition and had non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The other driver was not injured.
