Man killed in 3-vehicle crash on John Young Parkway in Kissimmee

A three-vehicle crash on John Young Parkway in Osceola County left one driver dead and another injured on Tuesday morning.

The fatal crash occurred on N John Young Parkway in Kissimmee, just north of the Ball Park Road intersection, at around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30.

According to a preliminary report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a car (2016 Hyundai Veloster) and SUV (2024 Mazda CX-30) were both traveling northbound on John Young Parkway in the inside lane. The report stated that the SUV was traveling ahead of the car.

At the same time, a pickup truck (2020 Ford F-250) was heading southbound on John Young Parkway in the outside lane.

A trooper noted in the preliminary report that the SUV’s driver, a 17-year-old girl from Kissimmee, began slowing for the traffic ahead.

The driver of the car, a 25-year-old Kissimmee man, failed to slow down in time. As a result, the front of his car struck the rear of the SUV, and he swerved to the left after the initial collision.

The car proceeded to enter the oncoming southbound lanes in the direct path of the pickup truck. Moments later, the front of the pickup truck struck the right side of the car.

The car’s driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. The report stated that he was not wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred.

The report stated that the driver of the pickup truck, a 62-year-old Orlando man, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The teen driver of the SUV did not require hospitalization and remained at the scene of the crash.

Due to the accident, a roadblock is currently in place for all southbound lanes and the inside northbound lane on N John Young Parkway.

The crash remains under investigation, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
