West Palm Beach police are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian Friday night.

Police received a 911 call around 10:48 p.m. stating a 2021 orange Corvette hit a man crossing Australian Avenue near downtown West Palm Beach.

The pedestrian was between Worthington Street and Belvedere Road when he was impacted, hitting the windshield of the car, and then landing in a grassy median by the 2400 block of Australian Avenue.

Authorities pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The pedestrian was crossing east to west across a six-lane divided roadway, not using a crosswalk.

The driver of the Corvette stopped near the impact sight. Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
