Fire severely damages empty warehouse in Bokeelia.

An empty warehouse burst into flames in Bokeelia, severely damaging the building on Friday evening.

At around 6:15 p.m., several fire units from across Southwest Florida responded to the fire off Harbor Drive, according to the Matlacha Pine Island Fire District.

The fire is out and no injuries have been reported at this time. The cause is under investigation by the Lee County Arson Task Force and the State Fire Marshal.

This was the biggest commercial structure on the island, according to Matlacha Fire Chief Benjamin Mickuleit.

Harbor Dr has been shut down since 6:30 p.m. As of 9 p.m., it will remain closed for a few more hours.
