Man uses hammer to attack senior in Miami-Dade, deputies say

A 25-year-old man used a hammer to hit a senior in the head on Monday in Miami-Dade County, according to deputies.

The victim reported RW struck him shortly before 8:45 a.m., at Northwest 97 Street and 27 Avenue, in Miami-Dade’s West Little River area.

Deputies responded to arrest W and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel took the victim to Northshore Hospital with injuries to his head and hand.

According to the arrest report, deputies searched W and found the hammer that he had allegedly used in the attack.

W appeared in court on Tuesday facing a charge of aggravated battery on a person who is 65 years old or older. A judge denied him bond.

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
