Man who attacked Lyft driver will learn his fate

The man who was convicted in a vicious attack on a Lyft driver will learn his fate later today. Michael Radler, 41, will be sentenced after a jury found him guilty last November of attempted first degree murder and leaving the scene of an accident.

Radler was riding a motorcycle on South Seacrest Boulevard in Boynton Beach on September 12, 2021, when he collided with a car with a Lyft driver, Tevin Kimbugwe, and two passengers inside. After the crash, according to the Lyft passengers, Radler got a 12 – 15-inch knife from his motorcycle and repeatedly stabbed Kimbugwe. Both passengers in the Lyft vehicle said Kimbugwe did nothing to provoke Radler.

According to the arrest report, the victim suffered “severe lacerations to his face, chest, back and arms.”

“I honestly was not trying to hurt him that bad. I wasn’t trying to really hurt anybody at all,” Radler testified during his trial in November.

Radler testified he felt Kimbugwe hit him intentionally.

“That was my first instinct to think like someone hit me on purpose and now someone is jumping out of the car to either take my bike or to rob me, to assault me in some kind of way, and that’s when you know what I mean. Like I was instantly just in panic mode,” Radler testified.”

Radler says after the wreck, he armed himself with a knife because he wasn’t sure what was going to happen when the Lyft driver got out of his car.

Radler faces a possible life sentence.
