A man shot and killed his wife and then turned the gun on himself in a murder-suicide at a Hialeah apartment complex on Thursday, according to police. A third woman was airlifted to a trauma center.
Authorities responded to a building in the 2500 block of West 67th Place, within the Lago Grande complex, at around 3 p.m.
Police said they responded to the complex and forced their way in to find the husband and wife, who share a child, dead.
Their names haven’t been released as of Thursday evening.
First responders airlifted the surviving victim in critical condition but authorities said she was so badly hurt that they were still working to determine Thursday evening whether she was shot.
The couple’s child was not home when the shooting happened. He or she is now in the custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families.
“It’s really heartbreaking for me because I feel bad for the families that lost somebody and I just really pray that they’ll be OK,” a neighbor told Local 10 News.
Police said they hope to be able to speak with the third victim and officers are working to determine what relationship she may have had with the husband and wife.
