Crash happened near North Garfield Avenue
DeLand police responded to a crash along International Speedway Boulevard on Thursday evening, according to the police department.
Police said the crash happened near the intersection of North Garfield Avenue around 6:17 p.m. when a motorcycle tried to cross over the avenue.
At the same time, a pickup truck headed west on the boulevard tried to turn south onto North Garfield Avenue, police added.
As a result, the motorcycle struck the truck, causing the motorcyclist to suffer fatal injuries, according to investigators.
Meanwhile, the truck driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Police closed this section of International Speedway Boulevard as investigators worked the scene, though all lanes have since been reopened, the police department announced.
