A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a semi-truck on Tuesday morning on Southern Boulevard.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR) said the deadly crash occured at around 9:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Southern Boulevard near Lang Road.
Paramedics arriving on the scene found the motorcyclist unresponsive, according to the news release. Despite rapid intervention, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The driver of the semi-truck declined medical treatment, and no other injuries were reported.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has taken over the investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the deadly crash.
PBSO identified the motorcyclist as 38-year-old FRJr., and provided further details on what led up to the crash.
The crash report stated that the semi-truck attempted a left turn from westbound Southern Boulevard onto Lang Road. At the same time, 38-year-old F R’s 2005 Suzuki GSXR 1000 motorcycle was traveling eastbound in the center lane. As the truck turned, the motorcycle struck the right rear tandem axles of the trailer, causing fatal injuries to Renta.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue pronounced him deceased at 9:44 a.m. at the scene, according to PBSO. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and investigators believe speed may have been a contributing factor.
The incident led to temporary lane closures as investigators worked to process the scene, adding delays during the mid-morning commute.
