Night nurse allegedly attacks 66-year-old patient, fractures his arm

A night nurse at a Delray Beach mental health facility allegedly assaulted a 66-year-old patient, leaving him with a fractured arm after a dispute over medication..

The Delray Beach Police Department (DBPD) said that on January 26, officers responded to South County Mental Health, located at 16158 South Military Trail, regarding a delayed battery.

When officers arrived, they reported meeting with the victim, a patient at the facility, who said that on January 25 at 3:30 a.m., he requested medicine from the night nurse, identified as AL.

According to the patient’s statement, as he requested the Flu medication, L, 44, ignored him, prompting the patient to insult Levin. In response, L allegedly threw Hennick to the ground and applied pressure to his arm, which the patient reported resulted in a loud “pop.”

Later that day, the patient was transported to a hospital nine hours later, where he was diagnosed with a chipped bone in his right arm and placed in a cast and sling.

Hennick reported the incident to the police nine hours after it occurred, expressing fear over what happened and indicating that he did not know L by name, but described him as having a large build and appearing Eastern European.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage from the facility, which confirmed parts of the patient’s account.

L has been accused of aggravated battery on a person 65 years old or older.
