Tuesday afternoon, crews battled a fire at apartments in Ocala.

Just before 4 p.m., a fire was reported at the Saddleworth Green Apartments.

Ocala Fire Rescue said flames and smoke were spotted coming from a unit on the first floor. Residents in the building evacuated.

Fire crews were able to put out the flames. After speaking with a resident, Ocala Fire Rescue says it appears the fire started after a candle fell over.

No injuries were reported.

Fire officials said two pets were rescued from the fire.

“Ocala Fire Rescue (OFR) reminds the public that it’s essential to blow out all candles before leaving a room or going to bed. Furthermore, OFR encourages the use of flameless candles, which often look and smell the same,” Ocala Fire Rescue said in a statement.
