A surveillance camera at the Señoritas Cabaret, an adult entertainment club in Pompano Beach, recorded a shooting that left a man on life support, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
A 30-year-old father of three was drinking beer with a group of friends and his brothers across the street from the cabaret at Southwest Second Place, according to a warrant in the case.
Witnesses said the father, Domingo Espinoza — who was easy to anger and had too much to drink — got into an argument with a man about a woman and about who had a better job, according to the warrant.
The victim “appears to throw his hat in anger. Approximately 20 seconds later, you can see a muzzle flash and the male with that hat drops to the floor,” Detective Jennifer Petrofsky wrote about the video, according to the warrant.
Espinoza appeared in court on Wednesday accused of firing a single shot to the victim’s head on Nov. 2, at 317 SW Second Place, and fleeing. Records show deputies arrested him and booked him on Dec. 19 at the main jail in Fort Lauderdale.
Meanwhile, the victim was on life support at the North Broward Hospital with minimal brain activity, according to the arrest warrant in the case.
“Medical staff advised [the victim] suffered a single gunshot to the right side of his head. The projectile went through the front of the skull, into his brain matter, and exited the back of his right side of the head,” Petrofsky wrote.
BSO deputies were holding Espinoza, who was born in Mexico, without bond for a charge of attempted felony murder and a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold pending trial.
