One critically injured in motorcycle crash in Port Charlotte

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving two motorcycles and another vehicle which temporarily closed U.S. 41 near Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte.

According to FHP, the crash occurred at around 11 p.m. on Thursday, when the motorcycles were traveling southbound when one attempted to pop a wheelie, leading the driver to lose control.

This caused the motorcycle to collide with other motorcycle, which led to driver who attempted the wheelie to become critically injured.

The second motorcyclist sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

After the initial crash, a vehicle struck the motorcycle.

The crash remains under investigation.
