MDFR: Driver airlifted to hospital after car crashes into canal in southwest Miami-Dade

A car crashed into a canal Friday morning in southwest Miami-Dade, and the driver has been airlifted to a local hospital, first responders confirmed to Local 10 News.

The crash occurred in the area of Southwest 157th Avenue and 264th Street.

According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials, two divers searched the canal for any other people who were possibly in the vehicle, but no one else was located.

First responders said the driver was airlifted to the trauma center at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital. The victim is listed in critical condition.
