The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) has revealed that a 41-year-old man has died following a crash on I-95 North.

The crash was south of Donald Ross Road within the city limits of Palm Beach Gardens. As of 3:35 p.m. two of the inside lanes are closed, FHP states.

According to FHP’s crash report, a 69-year-old man was driving a 2017 white Ford F450 truck, identified as an FDOT Severe Incident Response vehicle. The truck was heading north on I-95. Around the same time, the 41-year-old man on a 1980 Harley Davidson motorcycle was heading in the same direction.

FHP says the FDOT truck failed to see the motorcycle in the inside lane and began to turn left into the “Official Use Only” median on I-95.

The 41-year-old man on his motorcycle attempted to avoid the FDOT truck and maneuvered his motorcycle onto the inside of the paved shoulder.

The crash could not be avoided, FHP says. The motorcycle collided with the left side of the FDOT vehicle causing the driver to be separated from his motorcycle.

FHP says the motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to FHP, the FDOT truck was allowed to use the designated “Official Use Only” turnaround.

Video sent in of the crash shows the front of an FDOT truck engulfed in flames. A dark plume of smoke is also seen coming from the vehicle as emergency response vehicles respond to the scene.
