One year after fatal hit-and-run, police seek driver who killed woman crossing street

More than a year after 34-year-old Rachal Santa Maria was fatally struck while crossing Okeechobee Boulevard, West Palm Beach police are still searching for the driver who fled the scene.

The West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD) says Santa Maria was crossing Okeechobee Boulevard in October 2024 when a white SUV traveling westbound hit her in the second westbound lane. The SUV did not stop.

Santa Maria was rushed to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries, according to the WPBPD.

Police are still seeking information about the hit-and-run. Anyone with information is asked to call WPBPD at (561) 822-1900, or Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS (8477). Tips can remain anonymous, and if an arrest is made, you may receive a cash reward.
