A Sweetwater man was arrested Monday following an altercation with his roommate that began when he walked in front of his roommate’s camera as the victim was livestreaming, police said.
According to an arrest report from the Sweetwater Police Department, officers were called to the suspect and victim’s apartment at about 10:15 a.m. Monday regarding a “fight in progress.”
Police said they arrived and made contact with the suspect, AMA, 26, who admitted to being involved in a fight with his roommate.
According to the report, A said he walked in front of his roommate’s camera as the man was livestreaming, and his roommate told him not to do it again.
A said he didn’t care if the man was livestreaming and walked in front of the camera again, police said.
According to police, A then got into his roommate’s face, at which time his roommate pushed him with both hands to create distance between them.
The report states A then grabbed a bottle of Grey Goose vodka from a table next to the TV stand and struck his roommate on the left side of the head with it.
Police said A told them he then dropped the bottle and his roommate jumped on top of him and started to hit him before they were separated by a friend.
According to the report, the victim had a bruise on his head consistent with being struck and said he wanted to press charges.
A was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery and the Grey Goose bottle was impounded as evidence.
As of Tuesday morning, A remained held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Online jail records listed his bond as “to be set.”
