Panama City firefighters extinguish fire on Mallory Dr.

On Wednesday, the Panama City Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 600th block of Mallory Drive.

At about midnight, Engine #5 arrived on the scene. When they arrived heavy smoke and fire were coming from the garage of the residence. Two lines were deployed to extinguish the fire. The bulk of the fire was limited to the garage area, according to fire officials.

After searching the home, fire officials said all residents were able to exit the structure prior. One civilian was taken to a local hospital for injuries related to the fire.

Engine 4, Tower 1, Engine 3, and Battalion 1 arrived on the scene to assist with fire ground operations, officials wrote in a news release.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
