Passenger killed in two-car crash in Coral Gables

A car passenger died Monday night in a two-car crash in Coral Gables. The accident happened at about 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Bird and Lejeune roads, according to Coral Gables police.

A 2005 Mazda Miata, driven by Rebecca Cid, was heading west on Bird Road and made a left to Le Jeune.

The Mazda was then hit by a 2010 Chevrolet Avalanche, driven by Pablo Crucet, heading east on Bird Road.

Passenger Tomas Montas, 20, was removed from the Miata by Coral Gables Fire Rescue and taken to Ryder Trauma Center where he died. Coral Gables police are investigating and did not release information on citations or charges.
