Pedestrian killed, driver hospitalized after crash on South Military Trail in Palm Springs

A pedestrian was killed Thursday morning after being hit by a car on South Military Trail in Palm Springs, police said.

The crash happened about 7:11 a.m. in the 3900 block of South Military Trail, near Lake Worth Road.

Palm Springs police said a gray Volkswagen Jetta was traveling north when it struck a pedestrian crossing the road mid-block from east to west. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s identity is being withheld until next of kin are notified.

There was one other person who taken to the hospital, PBCFR says.

The Jetta’s driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue initially reported being dispatched just after 7:15 a.m. for a person struck by a vehicle near Lake Worth Road, east of Military Trail. The crash blocked a right-turn lane and caused delays in the area.
