Six people were taken to a hospital in the area of Escambia County after a two-vehicle crash on Saturday evening.

Escambia County Fire Rescue say they responded to the crash at 5:08 p.m. The crash happened at the intersection of Beverly Parkway and N. W Street.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 40-year-old Pensacola man driving a pickup truck east on Beverly Parkway was in the inside lane just west of Burlington Avenue. He inattentively went over into the other lane where a van was heading west, causing a crash.

The driver of that van was a 40-year-old woman with four children, ages six, eight, 11 and 12, as passengers. They are all from Pensacola.

Trooper said the pickup truck’s front left corner hit the van’s. Fire rescue said one vehicle was found to be on its side when units arrived. An extrication had to be performed.

“Crews worked quickly to stabilize the vehicle using struts and safely removed the windshield to make access to the patient,” said fire rescue.

Trooper said all involved had minor injuries. The man has charges pending against him.
