Person dies after pickup truck crashes through fence, into retention pond on Jacksonville’s Westside, police say

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a person died Sunday afternoon after their truck crashed through a fence and into a retention pond near the Cedar Hills neighborhood.

According to JSO, the black truck was driving along Misty View Drive when it veered across all lanes, crashed through a fence, and into a retention pond on Lane Avenue.

The truck submerged, and no one got out of it, JSO said.

“The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office dive team is working with a wrecker company to retrieve the vehicle from the pond,” the agency said.

The accident marks the 57th traffic fatality in Duval County this year.
