Person hospitalized after boat becomes stuck on Fort Myers Beach sandbar.

On Saturday morning, a vessel became stuck on a sandbar near the west tip of San Carlos Island on Fort Myers Beach.

While trying to dislodge the boat, one person onboard suffered an apparent medical event, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

The LCSo Marine Unit responded and took the person to the U.S. Coast Guard Station. They were then taken by ambulance to the hospital.

At this time, the medical diagnosis is still unknown.
