Plane crashes in Florida Keys with 2 people on board: deputies

TAVERNIER, Fla. – A small plane crashed in the Florida Keys with two people on board on Sunday afternoon, according to a statement on the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page. 

The small ultralight plane crashed shortly after takeoff from the Tavenero airport, a private airport in Tavernier. 

The two people on board are expected to be OK.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
