Semi-truck trailer engulfed in flames in Fort Pierce

A semi-truck trailer erupted into flames on Interstate 95 in Fort Pierce around midnight Friday.

At about 12:15 a.m., St. Lucie County Fire District received a call about a burning tractor trailer on Mile Marker 139 on I-95, according to the fire district.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, the trailer was fully engulfed in flames, the fire district reported.

The fire district reported extinguishing the fire quickly, but the risk of a resurgence was high.

After battling the blaze, crews stayed on the scene until 2:15 to check for hot spots and clean up the scene.
