Police: 2 dead, including 3-year-old, in Lakeland shooting

Lakeland Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation after a 3-year-old was found dead after a shooting in Lakeland on Monday.

According to the LPD, officers were dispatched at around 6:34 p.m. to 1850 Cambridge Cove Circle, where they found two people stuck by gunshots.

Lakeland Fire Department and Polk County Fire Rescue arrived at the scene of the accident and immediately began attempting lifesaving measures.

One of the victims was identified as a 3-year-old but was declared dead at the scene, and the second victim was transported to the Lakeland Regional Health with non-life-threatening injuries.

The LPD also said a third person was later dropped off at Lakeland Regional Health by a personal vehicle and declared dead.
