Riviera Beach police identified the victims of a Saturday afternoon crash that killed one teen on a mini bike and injured another.
According to a news release from the Riviera Beach Police Department (RBPD), a motorist called 911 to report a crash on the 600 block of West Blue Heron Blvd. just before 3 p.m.
Officers say a 16-year-old Douglas Lundy of Riviera Beach was driving the mini bike with a 17-year-old passenger eastbound on Blue Heron Blvd. when the bike veered into oncoming traffic before being struck by a Nissan Sentra, which was traveling above the posted speed limit.
Both teens were transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where Douglas died late Saturday afternoon.
Neither teen was wearing a helmet, and the bike was not street legal, per police.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, and that the driver of the Nissan Sentra, who was not injured and remained on scene, has no charges pending.
