Pregnant woman attacked with machete after ex-boyfriend breaks into Miami home, police say

A pregnant woman was attacked by her ex-boyfriend with a machete after he allegedly broke into her Miami apartment, police said.

D, 43, was charged with armed battery and burglary with assault and aggravated battery of a pregnant victim.

According to Miami Police, the victim and D had been seeing each other for four months before their relationship ended on July 18, which was the day of the attack. The victim said the two were arguing throughout the day, and when the victim was at his house, he struck her and grabbed her face.

An arrest report said D is the father of the victim’s unborn child.

When officers arrived at the home later in the day, the victim told them that D forced her way into her apartment and attacked her with a machete that was lying on a bed, the report said.

The victim, the report said, then ran into a room, locked the door and called 911. D then left the home.

The victim denied any medical assistance, the report said.

During their investigation, the report said, officers on Monday were doing their patrols in Little Havana when they located D and confirmed his identity with the victim.

Police said D waived his Miranda rights and admitted in a body camera video that he did break into the victim’s apartment.

D was then taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
