Punta Gorda home destroyed in generator fire

A Punta Gorda home was destroyed after a fire broke out on Monday morning.

According to Charlotte County Public Safety, the home along Padula Street went up in flames around 4:33 a.m.

The resident of the home was out of the home and was not injured.

The resident states he was having issues with a generator he was running when the fuel line ruptured and started the fire.

The State Fire Marshal responded and is investigating.
