American Red Cross Disaster Action Team volunteers responded to two home fires in Palm Beach County over the past 12 hours, helping eight people displaced by the incidents in Greenacres and Belle Glade.
According to the Red Cross, volunteers provided emergency assistance to residents affected by a fire on 16th Lane in Greenacres, where four people — two adults and two children — received help. In Belle Glade, another fire on Southwest 13th Street affected four people — three adults and one child.
In total, Red Cross volunteers assisted eight residents by providing emergency financial assistance, health and mental health services, and recovery support.
The Disaster Action Team is made up of specially trained local Red Cross volunteers who are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year to respond to emergencies. The team provides comfort, care, and critical resources to families affected by disasters such as home fires.
