Sanitation worker dead after being struck by garbage truck tire in Marion County

A 25-year-old sanitation worker is dead after an accident in Marion County.

According to FHP, it happened around 9 a.m. Tuesday within the Spruce Creek Subdivision, in the area of SE 108th Terrace.

Officials say a sanitation worker was loading garbage when he was struck by one of the truck’s tires.

The 25-year-old Ocala man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is under investigation.
