Santa Fe High senior dies in motorcycle crash; hundreds show for memorial

Hundreds of people showed up for a memorial to honor a senior at Santa Fe High School who was killed while riding his motorcycle.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say Jonathan “JP” Prior, 17, was driving southbound on State Road 121 in Union County on Friday night. He rear-ended an SUV near Southwest 76th Way, throwing him off the motorcycle.

Classmates and friends who attended the memorial at Santa Fe High School say hundreds of people came to show their love and support.

“It was beautiful,” said Jack Wheeler, a friend of JP. “I remember walking into the auditorium and seeing standing room only, and I was blessed to see that many people come out and support JP. I thought it was amazing seeing everyone circle up and show up [Sunday night] for him, for his family. It was absolutely beautiful.”

The Camp Kulaqua lifeguards have set up a gofundme to raise money for the family.
