Semi driver dies in I-75 accident in Columbia County

A 47-year-old Lawrenceville, Georgia man died Tuesday morning when his tractor-trailer drifted off Interstate 75 south of Lake City and collided with several trees.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the driver was traveling south on I-75 near mile marker 425 at 12:47 a.m. on the inside lane when he drifted southwest across the middle and outside lanes and exited onto the west shoulder. The tractor-trailer entered a ditch where it collided with several trees.

Emergency responders transported the man to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
