A 53-year-old Sharpes woman was killed Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Brevard County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The fatal wreck happened around 7:30 a.m. on U.S. 1, north of Tupelo Circle in Cocoa.
The FHP said the woman was driving a 2018 Kia Soul south on U.S. 1 and attempted to make a U-turn but lost control of her car and traveled across a grass median and into the direct path of a northbound 2016 Dodge Journey driven by a 32-year-old Cocoa man.
The vehicles collided, causing the Dodge Journey to overturn, an FHP crash report stated.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
The other driver was taken to Rockledge Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, the FHP said.
All northbound lanes of U.S. 1 and the southbound inside lane of U.S. 1 were blocked in the area.
The crash remains under investigation.
