A person was killed Saturday afternoon after a plane crashed at the Treasure Coast International Airport.
St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office started receiving 911 calls around 1:21 p.m. regarding the crash.
When deputies and the St. Lucie County Fire District arrived at the airport they found two people trapped inside a twin-engine Piper PA-44 aircraft.
One victim died at the scene due to their injuries.
The other victim was transported to a local hospital.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is the lead in the investigation.
WPBF 25 News has reached out to the NTSB for more information but so far we have not received a response.
