Steering failure leads to semi overturning on Florida’s Turnpike in Lake County

Steering failure leads to semi overturning on Florida’s Turnpike in Lake County

A semitrailer overturned in a crash early Friday, prompting the closure of Florida’s Turnpike in Lake County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The wreck happened around 5 a.m. at mile marker 287 near Leesburg. All southbound lanes of the Turnpike were closed in the area, but the right lane was later reopened.

The FHP said a 50-year-old man from Grand Ridge, Florida, was driving a 2012 Freightliner south on the Turnpike when his steering failed.

The semi left the road, crashed into the guardrail and overturned, an FHP crash report stated.

No one was injured, troopers said.
