SUV crashes into two Port Charlotte houses, leaving heavy damage.

An SUV collided with two houses in Port Charlotte along Cortland Avenue Monday afternoon.

A white SUV reportedly scraped the side of one house before crashing into another, severely damaging the corner of the second home.

The first house doesn’t look like it had much damage from the outside, but one of the homeowners told NBC2 the inside shows more.

“Her house kind of indented and it hit her bathroom so the toilet came off the wall and she had some damage to her house as well,” said Kevin Rios, the homeowner of the second residence involved.

According to a witness on the scene, a 90-year-old woman accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, leading to the crash.

“I guess our neighbor had somebody over, she’s an older lady and instead of pressing the brakes, she pressed the gas and tried to turn the wheel instead of hitting the house so then she came over and then smashed into our house,” Kathia Rios said.

Neither the driver nor the resident of the first house were injured. Additionally, the second house was unoccupied at the time of the crash.
