Troopers: SUV collides with fire truck in Walton County

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. — Troopers are investigating a crash involving a Walton County fire truck that occurred on Saturday night.

The crash happened at the intersection of Highway 90 and County Road 1087 at 11:38 p.m.

Florida Highway Patrol says an SUV was traveling south on County Road 1087 in the left turn lane, approaching Highway 90.

A Walton County fire truck was traveling east on Highway 90, also approaching the intersection of County Road 1087.

Trooper say the fire truck was emergent, with red warning lights and siren active.

As the SUV was nearing the intersection, a Walton County ambulance was also traveling south on County Road 1087 in emergent mode, directly behind the SUV, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

In an attempt to yield to the ambulance, troopers say the SUV accelerated to cross over Highway 90.

Florida Highway Patrol says the SUV failed to yield to the fire truck that was approaching and collided with its left side.
