Vehicle collision on State Road 79 resulted in a fatality.

On Friday, Florida Highway Patrol responded to a vehicle collision that resulted in one fatality and another facing serious injuries.

The incident happened at about 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of State Road 79 and County Road 173. A male driver and female passenger both 35 years old from Troy, Alabama were heading South. The driver failed to stop at the red light causing them to collide head-on with the driver of the second vehicle, a 20-year-old man from Bonifay, according to a news release.

The female passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene and the Alabama man was transported to Southeast Alabama Medical Center facing serious injuries, FHP officials said.

Authorities said the Bonifay man did not sustain any injuries.

FHP officials are investigating the crash and charges are pending.
