Video shows flames tear through Palmetto Bay home, killing 2 dogs.

A family of five was left without a home after a garage fire destroyed their house in Palmetto Bay late Saturday night.

More than a dozen Miami-Dade fire units responded to the fire that was caught on camera just before midnight Saturday.

Fire officials said crews were initially responding to reports of a vehicle fire along SW 156th Street when they arrived to a garage fully engulfed in flames. It reportedly also spread to the attic.

Officials said the fire was so large, that it took more than a dozen fire trucks to help get the flames under control.

Two dogs were inside the home at the time, but neither survived. The family was reportedly in Orlando when the fire broke out.

On Sunday, family and neighbors spent hours helping the family filling boxes with clothes and other salvageable items.

“I think their spirits are really high,” said one neighbor. “They’re just gonna need everybody’s support during these times, for the next weeks, months until they rebuild.”

At this time, the official cause of the fire is still under investigation.
