Woman accused of DUI after crash critically injures 2 near national monument in Florida.

A woman faces DUI charges after deputies say the vehicle she was driving critically injured two people before crashing near the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument in St. Augustine.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a crash near the historical fort located at 11 South Castillo Drive on Sunday around 2 a.m.

Deputies said that witnesses reported a vehicle traveling northbound on Avenida Menendez at a high rate of speed before it struck two women who were on the sidewalk.

According to a news release, the vehicle continued to travel into a parking lot where it crashed into a parking sign and pay-to-park kiosk before coming to a stop.

Deputies said the two women who were struck are in critical condition at the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle – 21-year-old Olivia King – was arrested and faces charges of driving under the influence, DUI crash involving serious bodily injury and DUI crash involving property damage.

Deputies said her passenger – 22-year-old Lamar Johnson Jr. – was also arrested and faces charges of resisting officers without violence because he “refused to obey commands by law enforcement and was attempting to cause a disturbance with other citizens while first responders were treating the victims and managing the scene.”
