A Palm Coast woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon during which she partially exited an SUV before it struck a dumpster, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
It happened around 2:11 p.m. at Roberts Road and Orion Drive, trooper said.
According to an FHP crash report, the 78-year-old woman was traveling northbound on Roberts Road when she partially exited the SUV for unknown reasons.
The SUV continued off the roadway until its left side hit the dumpster, trapping the woman between the dumpster and the door frame, the report states.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to FHP. Troopers believe she wasn’t wearing a seat belt during the crash.
